“It has everything I need in one app. It’s easy to see where my clients are at, and it makes it simple to build nutrition and exercise programs for them.”
Coaching automation
that does the weekly work for you
RIR-based load adjustments, fatigue-driven deload weeks, recurring check-ins, compliance scoring, and Apple Health / Health Connect step sync - built into the base plan, not sold as a separate AI add-on.

What gets automated
Eight specific automations the platform runs so the coach does not have to.
RIR-based auto-periodization
Reps-In-Reserve feedback from each set drives the next session’s prescribed load - so weights progress without weekly coach updates.
Automatic deload weeks
When the system detects fatigue patterns across multiple sessions, the next week shifts to a deload. Coach reviews before it ships.
Recurring weekly check-ins
Customizable per-client check-ins fire on the schedule you set. Body weight, photos, sleep, wellbeing, adherence, and free-text notes.
Compliance scoring
Per-client compliance score is computed from check-in submission rate, training completion, and nutrition adherence - not manually tallied.
Apple Health & Health Connect sync
Step counts sync automatically from Apple Health (iOS) and Health Connect (Android) once the client grants permission. No manual entry.
Auto-generated grocery lists
Any assigned meal plan generates a grocery list for the week. Updated automatically when the plan changes.
Bulk client onboarding
Invite multiple clients at once via email. Branding, default programs, and welcome messaging apply automatically.
Progress rollups
Weekly dashboards aggregate body weight trend, training volume, completion %, and check-in compliance per client - generated, not assembled.

What automation actually saves
Most coaches spend 15–30 minutes per client per week on programming updates, check-in chasing, compliance tracking, and grocery-list rebuilds. Across a 20-client roster that is 5–10 hours of weekly busywork.
When auto-periodization, recurring check-ins, compliance scoring, and grocery lists are part of the base product - not a separate AI add-on - those hours go back into actual coaching: weekly reviews, harder programming decisions, sales, and content.
See cost per clientTime-back per client / week
- Programming updates: ~10 min saved by RIR auto-progression
- Deload scheduling: ~5 min saved per cycle
- Check-in chasing: ~5 min saved by recurring schedule
- Compliance review: ~5 min saved by auto-scoring
- Grocery list rebuilds: ~5 min saved by auto-generation
Estimates vary by coaching style. The bigger the roster, the bigger the compounding effect - which is the same reason flat-rate pricing matters as you grow.
Coaches love it
Specific feedback from working coaches.
“The biggest benefit for me is having everything in one place. Program delivery, check-ins, and messaging are all connected, so I’m no longer switching between different tools. The check-in flow is straightforward and makes it easy to review each week.”
Frequently asked
What does “coaching automation” mean here?+
It means the platform handles the work coaches normally do by hand each week: adjusting training loads based on RIR/RPE feedback, inserting deload weeks when fatigue patterns appear, sending check-in forms on schedule, computing compliance scores, syncing steps from Apple Health and Health Connect, and rolling up progress data into a weekly dashboard. The coach reviews and intervenes - the system does not replace coaching judgment, but it removes the manual data shuffling.
How does RIR-based auto-periodization actually work?+
Clients log how close to failure each set felt (Reps In Reserve). The system uses that signal - combined with completed reps and weight - to suggest the next session’s load. If a client consistently has more RIR than prescribed, weights bump up. If RIR is consistently zero, weights hold or drop. The coach can override any prescription at any time; auto-periodization is a default, not a lock.
When does an automatic deload week get inserted?+
The system watches for fatigue patterns across multiple sessions - falling bar speed proxies (RIR drops), missed prescribed reps, declining session-to-session loads, and adherence drops. When those signals cluster, the next program week becomes a deload (reduced volume, reduced intensity). Coaches can review and override before the week ships to the client.
How is this different from My PT Hub’s Check-Ins AI?+
My PT Hub charges $12/month for Check-Ins AI as a separate add-on (publicly listed pricing as of June 12, 2026). CoachingPortal’s recurring weekly check-ins, customizable section visibility, and compliance scoring are part of the base product on every plan, including the free tier.
Does ABC Trainerize have auto-periodization?+
Trainerize has a Smart Training feature, but most autoregulation in Trainerize remains coach-driven through manual program updates each cycle. CoachingPortal’s RIR-based engine is set up to drive the next session’s prescription automatically based on the previous session’s data, with deload insertion built in.
What gets automated on the nutrition side?+
Auto-generated grocery lists from any assigned meal plan, BMR/TDEE calculation from intake data, macro adherence rollups per client, and weekly compliance scoring that combines food logging consistency with training completion. Step counts sync automatically on iOS via Apple Health and on Android via Health Connect - clients do not enter step data manually.
Can I turn the automation off?+
Yes. Auto-periodization is opt-in per program. You can build static programs with fixed loads, percentage-based loads, or RPE prescriptions and skip the autoregulation engine entirely. Many coaches use auto-periodization on hypertrophy and general strength blocks and turn it off for peaking blocks where they want full manual control.
