Drag-and-drop programming

The Most Advanced
Exercise Program Builder

Stop wasting hours on spreadsheets. Build periodized training programs in minutes — with drag-and-drop tools, multi-block periodization, and automated progression logic.

CoachingPortal Exercise Program Builder Interface

Built by Coaches, for Coaches

Every feature is designed to speed up your workflow while improving client results.

Drag-and-Drop Workflow

Easily move exercises between days, swap movements, and restructure blocks with zero friction.

Block Periodization

Organize a program into training blocks — accumulation, intensification, deload, peak — each with its own exercises and RIR-based intensity. The system auto-cuts volume on deloads and plans progression around the goal.

3,500+ Exercise Library

Form demonstrations included for most movements. Add your own custom videos in seconds.

Progression Algorithms

The engine suggests weight and rep increases from real client performance.

Mobile Workout Log

Clients get a gym-ready mobile interface to track sets, reps, and RPE from their phone.

Smart Templates

Save your best programs as templates and deploy them to new clients with a single click.

PT Mode

Log weights, reps, and RPE from your device during in-person sessions. Connect via QR code and sync in real time.

Drop Set Finishers

Stack drop steps after the top set with absolute weights or percent reductions. Clients see each step (D1/D2/D3) and log them independently as they drop the load.

Supersets

Pair two or more exercises into a superset. Clients alternate sets between members with A/B/C badges and the app auto-focuses the next member after each completed set.

Science-Based
Progression Logic

Most workout builders are just digital clipboards. CoachingPortal is an intelligent assistant. It calculates estimated 1RMs and tracks RPE trends. It uses RIR-based autoregulation to guide training intensity. Progression logic follows dose-response research on training volume to optimize results.

Based on Set 1 performance (RPE 7), increase load by 5-10 lbs for next week to maintain target intensity.

Research Behind Our Programming Logic

Our auto-periodization and progression algorithms are informed by peer-reviewed resistance training research and industry guidelines.

Verified G2 review

It has everything I need in one app. It’s easy to see where my clients are at, and it makes it simple to build nutrition and exercise programs for them.

Verified G2 review

The biggest benefit for me is having everything in one place. Program delivery, check-ins, and messaging are all connected, so I’m no longer switching between different tools. The check-in flow is straightforward and makes it easy to review each week.

Exercise program builder FAQ

What is an exercise program builder?+

An exercise program builder is the tool a coach uses to design training programs and assign them to clients. It lets you sequence exercises, sets, reps, RPE/RIR, rest, and progression rules across weeks and blocks, then deliver the program to clients with video demos and logging - replacing spreadsheets, PDFs, and one-off messages.

Do I have to build every workout from scratch?+

No. CoachingPortal includes program templates you can clone and adapt, a library of 3,500+ exercises, and saved blocks you can reuse across clients. Most coaches start from a template, tweak two or three exercises for the individual, and assign in under five minutes.

Does it support periodization automatically?+

Yes. CoachingPortal includes RIR-based auto-periodization that adjusts load, volume, and deload weeks based on the client's logged performance and proximity to failure - without you manually rewriting every week. You stay in control: any rule can be overridden per client or per block.

Can I assign the same program to multiple clients at once?+

Yes. Programs can be assigned individually or in bulk, and once assigned each client gets their own copy that progresses based on their performance. Edits to the master template do not retroactively rewrite history for clients already running the program.

How is this different from spreadsheets or PDF templates?+

Spreadsheets and PDFs do not enforce progression, do not show exercise videos to the client, do not log results, and do not surface compliance to the coach. A real exercise program builder closes the loop: the program is delivered inside a branded client app, the client logs every set, and the coach sees adherence, RPE drift, and PRs without chasing screenshots.

Can I program supersets and drop sets?+

Yes. Pair two or more exercises into a superset and the client app rotates focus between members (A/B/C) so they alternate sets the way you intended. Drop set finishers attach to the top set with either absolute weights or percent reductions - the client logs each drop step (D1/D2/D3) independently and the platform aggregates volume across the parent set and all its drops.
