TrueCoach Alternative

TrueCoach is a strong workout builder. Nutrition lives in MyFitnessPal, the bill steps up at 20 and 50 clients, and branding starts at Standard. CoachingPortal puts training, meals, and check-ins in one branded portal at yourname.coachingportal.io. Native iOS and Android apps are listed under CoachingPortal; after sign-in, clients see your brand. It is not a coach-named App Store listing.

Why coaches switch

White-label included as a portal, not a store listing

Logo, colors, business name, branded invites, and yourname.coachingportal.io on every plan including free. Clients install the CoachingPortal iOS/Android apps (seller Matthew Gilbert / ClearInsite LLC) or use mobile web; after login they see you. A store listing under your legal name is a different product. How white-label branding works.

Nutrition native, not MyFitnessPal

Meal-plan builder, 1M+ foods, 17,000+ recipes, barcode scanning, grocery lists, and macros on Free, Grow, and Professional. TrueCoach pricing lists MyFitnessPal for nutrition; there is no built-in meal-plan builder.

Flat unlimited vs per-client tiers

CoachingPortal: free forever for 3 clients with no credit card, Grow $19.99/month for 10 clients, Professional $49.99/month unlimited. TrueCoach annual prices as of 2026-08-25 from truecoach.co/pricing: Starter $26.34/month for 5 clients, Standard $57.99/month for 20, Pro $136.99/month for 50. No permanent free plan; 14-day trial.

Short contrast

Food lives in the same app. The bill does not jump at 20 or 50 clients. Branding is not the same SKU: TrueCoach’s custom-branded app is on Standard/Pro, not Starter; CoachingPortal’s portal is on every plan; neither is your own App Store listing. TrueCoach offers automated payments inside the trainer app. If you want billing inside the trainer app, TrueCoach does that. CoachingPortal does not process coach–client payments and takes no cut. Wearables: TrueCoach has Garmin, WHOOP, and similar; we have Apple Health on iOS and Health Connect on Android only. Programming: they have a video library; we add RIR auto-periodization as suggestions, not auto-forced loads.

If you only coach lifting and never food, TrueCoach can still be the better fit.

Switching

There is no importer. Keep TrueCoach running until the first check-in week. Recreate active programs. Build meals once. Bulk-invite clients. Tell them to install the CoachingPortal app. Overlap 7–14 days. Help: support@coachingportal.io.

Frequently asked questions

Is CoachingPortal a TrueCoach alternative?

Yes, for fitness and nutrition coaches who want training, meals, and check-ins in one branded portal. It is not a life-coach platform and not a gym-management suite.

Does TrueCoach have a native meal-plan builder?

No. TrueCoach lists MyFitnessPal for nutrition. CoachingPortal includes a meal-plan builder, food database, recipes, barcode scanning, and macros in the same client app as workouts. If you sell nutrition, that split is why people leave.

Do I get my own App Store listing?

No. Clients use the CoachingPortal native apps plus your branded portal at yourname.coachingportal.io. Store listings are CoachingPortal (Matthew Gilbert / ClearInsite LLC). After sign-in, the experience is yours.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Free forever for 3 clients, no credit card, with the same core portal features as paid plans including white-label branding.

Do you take a cut of client payments?

TrueCoach offers automated payments inside the trainer app. If you want billing inside the trainer app, TrueCoach does that. CoachingPortal does not process coach–client payments and takes no cut.
